The DOJO, Olympic Karate Institute performed a Food Drive in July of 2008 which raised over 1,000 cans of food in 23 days. Children as young as 4 years old participated as well as a 93 year Grandmother. The Dojo Food Drive was a projected headed by Sensei Dan Rominski that not only helped citizens in need of food in the rutherford community but also served as Project Based Leadership Training for the 250 students of the school.
The cans of food were donated to the Rutherford Food Pantry which will help those in need. Since most organizations donate generously during holiday seasons and during the school year the summer months and vacation times leave the Pantry almost empty. The summer food drive donations from The Dojo, Olympic Karate Institute, Sensei and his students were a received with much welcome.
