TV Turnoff Week 2009


The DOJO

Alternative Activities for Children & Families
Put a checkmark next to what you did this week

o Attend Martial Arts Class at The DOJO.
o Volunteer in a school to teach reading, math, computer skills.
o Learn to play the guitar or other musical instrument.
o Attend community concerts.
o Organize a community clean-up.
o Put together a puzzle.

o Go ice skating or roller skating.

o Read a book aloud to your younger sister/brother.
o Plan a picnic or barbecue.

o Volunteer for a community organization or charity.

o Go dancing.
o Write a letter to a friend or relative.
o Learn to cook.
o Plant a flower, vegetable or herb garden.
o Read magazines or newspapers.

o Go camping (even if it's just in the backyard!).

o Go through your closets and clothes. Donate surplus items to Goodwill, the Salvation Army or a local rummage sale.

o Take a nature hike. Collect seeds and leaves. Make a collage with the materials you collected and post it on the refrigerator.

o Make crafts to give as gifts.

o Watch the night sky through binoculars; identify the different constellations. Observe the moon.
