TheDOJO’s Welcomes The Exceptional Individuals of Rutherford, NJ

TheDOJO’s Welcomes The Exceptional Individuals of Rutherford

Rutherford, NJ, April 20, 2015 Celebrating its 40th year unleashing human potential,
TheDOJO recently hosted 29 young adults from The Exceptional Individuals Program of
Rutherford. These young adults partnered up with teen and adult students for an
evening of exercise and education.

TheDOJO’s guest students learned a variety of punching, blocking and kicking
techniques to protect themselves. The class also focused on enhancing motor skills,
developing eye-hand coordination, and growing a more positive self-image.
Sensei Dan Rominski teaches that character development is key to growing into
a healthy, happy human being. He focused the evening’s class on teaching their
guests how to use their voice and their words (not their fists) to influence and
affect the change they wish to see around them. Sensei Dan spoke at length
about how to work in cooperation with one another, about tolerance and about
empathy. This was a very rich and rewarding exercise in mentorship for those
students working with the evening’s special guests.
Sensei Dan teaches his students to interact with others in a positive and fun
environment - to find their voice by drawing POSITIVE attention to themselves and to
help others in any way they can. TheDOJO’s intelligent curriculum enables students to
grow in self-awareness, assertiveness and, above all, good decision-making. These
are lessons built on self-respect, value for life, and value for others.
Project-Based Leadership Training is a core aspect of TheDOJO’s martial arts
curriculum. Through its Community Outreach Program, TheDOJO offers a free selfdefense
lesson or consultation to any student, parent, or community member interested
in advice about bullying, stranger danger, and other topics that keep us safe and
informed. To learn more about their program, please contact Sensei Dan Rominski at
